Exhibition “The Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950”

Europe Direct University of Luxembourg, the European Parliament and their partners are pleased to invite you to visit the documentary exhibition titled “The Schuman Declaration of 9 May 1950”, that sheds new lights on a revolutionary initiative which served as a starting point for the first European Community – the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).

The organization of this event at the University of Luxembourg is of particular historical significance owing to the fact that the first casting of European steel was done in the Belval /Esch-sur-Alzette steelworks on 30 April 1953, in the eve of the opening of the European common market in steel.

The Archives Unit of the European Parliament is the publisher of the exhibition and the Directorate of Libraries and Knowledge Tools (Directorate General of Parliamentary Research Services) is the curator.

The exhibition is on display in the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) from 4 May to 4 June 2022, and it is open to visitors from Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 20:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 to 17:00.
